NARS Eyeshadow Duo - 'Kuala Lumpur' - swatches & review

The NARS Duo Eyeshadow in 'Kuala Lumpur' was released as part of the Spring 2010 collection.  It's an interesting combination of a soft peach with a slight dusty undertone, together with a warm plum/berry purple.  Both colours have a gold shimmer throughout them.  I was really intrigued by this duo, and didn't really have anything like it in my collection.  When I purchased it, it was autumn/fall here in Australia, and I thought that these colours would work just as well for the season, which they do.

The texture of these eyeshadows is characteristic of NARS - soft and easy to apply.  But the problems lies with the pigmentation - the colour pay-off is not what we are used to seeing from NARS.  The colours, especially the peach shade, are on the sheer side, and trying to get a noticeable application is difficult.  Even with Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion underneath, which tends to strengthen the pigment of eyeshadows, there wasn't much of an increase in colour pigment.

I haven't yet tried this duo wet, but I would imagine that it would work better wet than dry.  However, I am generally not a fan of this method of application, and prefer to use my powder eyeshadows dry.  One of the reasons why I love NARS is because of the great pigmentation and colour pay-off with their powder eyeshadows, but this one has slightly missed the mark.   However, the two shades are pretty and would suit all eye colours, and if you are after a sheer shade of peach and warm-toned purple, then this would be ideal!

Both colours swatched - I needed quite a heavy application
to get them at this intensity

Peach shade applied all over the lid,
with purple shade applied on the outer corner (not very noticeable!)
